Virtual Assistant Training

virtual assistant training

Virtual assistant training and certification is available through many VA resources, however, you may be wondering if you really need training.

Currently there are no training or certification requirements for this Virtual Assistants and whether or not you need these is a personal choice. Many VAs start their businesses with no further training than they have already received and no certification. Others find additional training and the certification they earn very beneficial to their credibility in the eyes of prospective clients.

Most people considering becoming a virtual assistant have years of administrative experience. The internet has made it possible for anyone with excellent computer and administrative skills to become a VA. The industry is still unregulated and no specific training is required, however this does not mean you don’t need any training.

Be very realistic about what skills you have and the level of proficiency you have achieved. If you need to brush up on some of your skills, invest a little time and money in training before starting your virtual assistant business. The proper training can help you find the clients you want to work with.

Remember, your business reputation is extremely important and you want to be sure you can provide the services you have promised your clients.

There are no careers or businesses you can start that will require no training on your part.

Take your virtual assistant business as seriously as you would a career or other home based business.

Depending upon what types of services you plan to provide, there may be continuing education classes at your local community college or vocational school. You can also learn more about training from some of the Virtual Assistant Associations dedicated to helping you start your business.

Building a Profitable Niche as a Virtual Event Specialist (Even in a Down Economy)

A brief message from Craig Cannigs on Virtual Event Services

Do I need certification?

You are not required to obtain any certification before starting your own virtual assistant business. You may want to seek certification to establish credibility with new clients who are not familiar with your skills and work performance.

Certification is really a personal choice and may be the most helpful for those who do not have many years of administrative experience and business references. The certification assures the client you have a high level of efficiency in specific skills. However, if you have an impressive resume and other previous certifications, you may not find it necessary to obtain Virtual Assistance certification.

You will probably find clients are most interested in your experiences, what services you offer and your efficiency and professionalism, rather than in any specific certification. I look at certification in terms of the training they provide and whether or not I need that training, rather than simply for credibility. However, certification does assure the client that you are qualified. Since you are working in the virtual world, certification may help potential clients feel more comfortable working with you and give you an edge over other VAs.

Certification is possible today since so many Virtual Assistant training programs provide certification when completed. Learn more about Virtual Assistant Certification...

The training you need will depend upon your Target Market.
